What is the initial visit like and how long does it take?
Your first visit is a dedicated 60-minute Initial Consultation and Structural Correction Exam. Our goal is to thoroughly understand your health concerns, identify your needs, and determine if Advanced Alignment is the right fit for you. This time also allows us to explain how our practice differs from others in the Asheville area.
Where is Advanced Alignment located?
We are conveniently situated in East Asheville on Tunnel Road. Our office is approximately five miles from the mall and just a quarter-mile from Exit 55 on I-40. Look for us in the same parking lot as Mercy Urgent Care and Asheville Mountain Pharmacy, close to a Blue Ridge Parkway entrance.

- Tuesday/Thursday: 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM

What is "Structural Correction"?
Structural Correction is a specialized form of chiropractic care that focuses on restoring your spine and nervous system back toward their ideal alignment—your body’s original blueprint. When the spine shifts out of alignment, it can contribute to issues like:
● Pain (neck, back, shoulder, hip)
● Headaches & migraines
● Posture imbalance
● Sleep disturbances
● Fatigue & stress
● Digestive or breathing changes
Unlike temporary relief, Structural Correction addresses the underlying instability to facilitate true healing and long-term correction.
What makes Dr. Christopher Boyhan different from traditional community chiropractors?
Dr. Boyhan focuses on Structural Correction, which targets and corrects the root cause of health problems, not just the symptoms. He utilizes advanced diagnostic tools to pinpoint how structural shifts disrupt the nervous system, posture, sleep, and overall function. Most chiropractic offices provide temporary relief; Dr. Boyhan provides a measurable, long-term correction plan.
How do you determine my specific problem?
Your exam uses advanced diagnostic tools that go beyond typical chiropractic clinics:
● Digital Motion X-Ray (DMX) or motion imaging
● Infrared thermography to measure nerve irritation
● Structural posture analysis
● Neurological and orthopedic testing
This comprehensive approach allows Dr. Boyhan to precisely identify the structural issues causing your symptoms and develop a customized correction plan.
Do you treat problems besides back and neck pain?
Yes. Because the spine protects the nervous system, structural shifts can impact many areas of health. Patients often seek care for:
● Headaches & migraines
● Sciatica
● Posture issues
● Numbness/tingling
● Sleep disturbances or sleep apnea–related issues
● TMJ
● Digestive issues
● Chronic tension & stress
Stabilizing the nervous system often leads to natural improvement in these and other conditions.
What if I don’t have pain—should I still get checked?
Absolutely. Many structural problems are silent for years before symptoms appear. The absence of pain does not mean the absence of a problem (similar to high blood pressure). Regular structural exams are essential for catching issues before they become serious.
Is Structural Correction safe?
Yes. Dr. Boyhan uses gentle, precise, and non-invasive techniques. Adjustments are entirely based on your specific exam findings—not guesswork—making the care customized and safe for:
● Children
● Adults
● Athletes
● Seniors
Will the adjustments hurt?
No. Most patients describe the adjustments as relieving, gentle, and easier than expected. Our techniques avoid twisting or aggressive force.
How long does it take to see results?
Many patients feel improvements—especially with sleep, headaches, and posture—within the first few adjustments. However, long-term correction typically takes weeks to months, depending on factors such as:
● How long the problem has existed
● The presence of degenerative changes
● Lifestyle factors (stress, sleep, hydration, movement)
● Consistency with your recommendations
The ultimate goal is to fix the underlying problem for lasting results.
How often will I need to come in?
Your care schedule is entirely personalized based on your specific case history and exam findings. Your plan will clearly outline:
● The required frequency of adjustments
● Your milestones and progress checkpoints
● When re-evaluations will take place
Most structural correction plans involve a series of adjustments, exercises, and progress checks.
Will I need maintenance or wellness care afterward?
Once your structure is corrected, periodic checkups are highly recommended—similar to routine dental cleanings for your spine—to maintain alignment and protect your long-term results. This is optional.
What happens if I delay getting care?
Delaying care can lead to:
● Increased pain and stiffness
● Accelerated spinal degeneration
● Higher long-term healthcare costs
● More complicated and longer treatment plans
● Emotional frustration and stress
Addressing structural issues early is always more efficient and helps prevent future breakdown.
Does the doctor work with other health care practitioners?
Collaboration is key. We maintain an intricate referral network of health care professionals to help co-manage your case when indicated, ensuring optimal results.
How do I get started?
Your first step is scheduling a Complete Structural & Neurological Assessment. This comprehensive appointment includes a consultation with Dr. Boyhan, motion imaging, thermography, and posture scans.
